Farmhouse Chic Log Cabin
1870's Renovated Log Cabin...Farmhouse Chic style. The original exposed log beams, exposed brick wall and wide pine floors provide a rustic, charming backdrop to impose a simple elegant style of "farmhouse chic." Vivid paintings, a chintz sofa, various old dressers & shabby oriental rugs warm the room . The kitchen, with old stone fireplace, reclaimed antique kitchen cabinets, coupled with a few old painted pieces fused with modern stainless appliances, a small farm table and old sofa definitely refines the look. and...what exactly is the look? Warm, comfortable, lived in, interesting, simple and elegant.
Creating "Farmhouse Chic" Style
First of all, what is "farmhouse chic"? and, do I have to have a farm house to create the farmhouse chic style?
Farmhouse chic is creating a way of life that is nostalgic and comfortable, modern and casual. Simplicity reigns! A reflection of you enjoying life. Easy to create using vintage building materials, or accessories, and fusing the old with your treasures of today. Hmmm... farm house?...old wooden bowls, mason jars, wire baskets filled with fruit, vintage shutters, beadboard, slipcovered sofas and chairs, farm table, and anything that reminds you of farmhouse living. Marry your vintage treasures or finds with some interesting old chandeliers, coupled with maybe some new farm style lighting pendents, white or neutral color paint, wainscotting, new or vintage cabinet pulls. Add some open shelving in your kitchen to display your old jars or bowls, fill them with fruit, nuts, spices or whatever you like, vintage oriental rugs, door knobs, maybe a whitewashed old dresser, chair, or cabinet and presto!!! Farmhouse chic!
and...no, you do not have to live in a farm house to inspire this style..just the desire to create it!
